Simeon Holds the Christ Child

Simeon, the righteous and devout elder of Jerusalem, lifts the infant Jesus in his arms inside the temple courts while Mary and Joseph stand behind him in reverent witness. The aged servant looks upward in worship, recognizing in the newborn child the promised consolation of Israel.
