The earth convulses beneath a darkened sky as great stones and mountain fragments crash downward, while terrified crowds scatter across broken ground and lift their arms toward the collapsing heights. The scene portrays the dreadful cry of the wicked at the appearing of divine judgment: “Fall on us, and hide us” from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.

Drawn from Revelation 6, the artwork visualizes the opening of the sixth seal, when cosmic signs, earthquake, and falling rocks reveal the final seriousness of rejecting God. It is a stark eschatological subject for teaching on judgment, repentance, the Second Coming, and the day of the Lord.
