The child’s distress recalls his cry, “My head, my head,” from 2 Kings 4, the moment that begins the crisis leading his mother to seek the prophet Elisha. This artwork centers on the fragile promised child given to the Shunammite woman and the helplessness of human strength in the face of death. The harvest setting intensifies the biblical moment: life and provision fill the land, yet the family is brought to desperate need. The story ultimately points to God’s mercy through prophetic ministry, as Elisha later prays and the boy is restored to life.
